Copyright

This website (www.ossrc.org) is developed and maintained by the Ohio Social Studies Resource Center (OSSRC). Unless otherwise specified, copyright to all original content on this website is held by the Ohio Historical Society for the benefit of the OSSRC.

Many of the resources available on OSSRC website are not produced or authored by the center. At this time the OSSRC links its viewers to resources that are freely accessible through public domain. In the course that resources are obtained that are beyond the scope of public domain, the OSSRC will only post these resources with the permission of the copyright holder. To reproduce any resources an individual will need to obtain permission from the copyright holder. The OSSRC attempts to clearly identify such reproduced materials on our site.

Just because it's on the Internet does NOT mean an internet user can copy it for free or without permission for personal or professional use. Misuse of copyrighted materials is theft! It is the responsibility of the Internet user to protect themselves from lawsuit or prosecution by educating themselves about "fair-use", plagiarism and copyright.

Submitted Lessons

In the event that a lesson plan is submitted for review to the OSSRC the lesson writer will be required to sign a copyright disclosure form. By signing this form the lesson writer is agreeing that information included in the lesson plan has been either written or created by the lesson writer; or that the lesson writer has obtained written permission to use copyrighted information in this lesson. If such permission has been granted the lesson writer must submit that documentation with the lesson plan. The OSSRC assumes no liability for any resources found to unlawfully use copyrighted materials.

By submitting a lesson plan to the OSSRC the lesson writer agrees to allow the OSSRC to publish it on our web site. The lesson writer also agrees to give the OSSRC the right to share the resource on the OSSRC website. In all instances the OSSRC will give the lesson writer full credit for the idea and will assign both the lesson writers name and school to any lesson plan posted.

Privacy Policy

The OSSRC does not sell or share personal information of users with anyone outside of the OSSRC and its subcontractors, UNLESS REQUIRED BY LAW.

When a viewer registers for services of the OSSRC, the center provides options for the viewer to volunteer additional information about themselves and their role in education. This information is used to improve the OSSRC products and services and is only analyzed in the aggregate.

The OSSRC provides several opportunities for users to contact the center through email or web-based forms. The OSSRC uses the personal information viewers provide only as it relates to answering questions. Records of how many people contact the center per month are kept; however, individual information is not kept in this form nor shared in any reporting process. In the process that personal information is collected the OSSRC will make every effort to preserve the privacy and security of its viewers. An individual may contact the OSSRC at any time to request that their personal information be removed from the OSSRC database.
