George and Arthur Wansbrough Letters

Description:

These two letters were written by George and Arthur Wansbrough during their service with the 5th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry during the Civil War. The letters were written from Tennessee, where the brothers took part in the Battle of Shiloh. The first letter, written by George, reports on that battle. Arthur's letter, the only letter in the larger collection written by him, breaks the news of George's death from disease to their parents. The two brothers were from Alexandria, Ohio.
