Orris A. Lawson Sketches

Description:

These drawings were done by Orris A. Lawson during his service in the Civil War. The first image is captioned "Ohio boys working on the fortifications, Fort Morrow, Western Virginia." The second drawing is titled "The 3rd Reg. of O.V.M. alarmed by firing guns in the night of 22 July in Camp Cheatmountainpass, West Virginia." The third drawing is captioned "10 minutes later" and shows men lined up in battle lines in front of a military encampment. The fourth image is untitled and shows a military encampment with men marching down the road in front of it. Orris A. Lawson was a Colonel in the 3rd O. V. I. Regiment, and served in the Army of the Cumberland. These drawings provide an eyewitness view of the Civil War.
