Mathews House, Painesville, OhioDescription:The home of Dr. John H. Mathews, the first physician in Geauga and Lake counties, was built in 1828 by builder Jonathan Goldsmith. Goldsmith was born in Connecticut and moved to Painesville in 1811. The home was moved from its original location to the campus of Lake Erie College and is on the National Register of Historic Buildings.
