Shackles

Description:

This photograph shows a pair of shackles. Although it is not certain that these shackles were used on slaves (they may have been used on prisoners), they are indicative of those used in the time of slavery.

Fact or Fiction Description:

These shackles were used to bind slaves and keep them from escaping.  The shackles were attached to the slaves’ legs.
