Introduction to Document Analysis
In 1795, Anthony Wayne signed a treaty with representatives of many of Ohio’s American Indian groups. The Treaty of Greenville reserved lands in the northwest corner of the state for the sole possession of American Indian groups. Yet by 1830, the last American Indian tribe had been removed from Ohio. What happened? This activity allows students to use primary source documents to try to find the answer to this question.
