Description:

In this letter to John G. Deshler and others, Buckeye Steel Castings Company president and general manager Samuel Prescott Bush recommends the Scientific Management theories of engineer Frederick Taylor and suggests continuing to support the industrial programs available to employees through the Y.M.C.A. as an effective way to combat labor discontent.

John Green Deshler was the president of the Deshler Bank (which would become the Huntington National Bank) and a director of Buckeye Steel. His father, William Green Deshler, was a founder of the Hocking Valley Railway. S.P. Bush is the grandfather of President George H.W. Bush and the great-grandfather of President George W. Bush.
